His Eminence Hilarion Reposed in the Lord
On Monday, May 16, 2022, the feast of Venerable Theodosius of the Kiev Caves, at 2 p.m. New York time, following a lengthy illness, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, reposed in the Lord in a New York City hospital.
His Grace Nicholas, Bishop of Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, performed the "Canon of Supplication at the Parting of the Soul." His Grace was joined by Archpriest Serafim Gan and Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin).
Memory Eternal to a wonderfully humble, gentle, and prayerful First Hierarch. May God grant him the heavenly kingdom!
The recollections presented here are Vladyka's regarding the Russian Church Abroad's unity with the Moscow Patriarchate and are most likely the last interview that the late First Hierarch gave before his repose. You may also read here his Enthronement Speech from 2008. And below is Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov speaking about his Eminence.
May the Lord grant rest to the soul of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Hilarion in a place of light, in a place of verdure, in a place of peace, from which sickness, sorrow and sighing will flee!
